Hi Peter,
Ideal made a number of components for Mototrans machines, including handlebar grips and fuel taps.
The main body of the Ideal fuel taps have a M16x1 thread that screws into an adaptor with the M12x1.5 thread, which in turn screws into the tank.
They easily come apart but you will probably need a sheet of Viton 3mm thick (rather than 2mm ) to replace the seal, together with a hole punch.
Note that there are two small locating lugs cast into the main body of the tap to orient the seal in the correct position and prevent it turning when the lever is operated.
Whilst it does not create the "small locating lugs" Jon describes, I have found that a "wad punch" is ideal for cutting the seal from the Viton sheet you propose to use. They are readily available and reasonably priced. I have used a 14mm wad punch for manufacturing the seal in the later MKIII widecase fuel taps, with success.
Good health, Bill
