CEV 9313

Postby Ducvet » Sat Mar 23, 2013 1:52 pm

Moving on to the next phase of my singles education.

I realized that the CEV 9313 housing is in pretty bad shape. Of course they are discontinued and I am not seeing a abundance of good used ones out there. Someone posted up a big truck version that appears to be close in specification 80463R this is a universal mount version. They also have a 80461R with 2 studs (SAE not metric) that also appears to be a knock off of the CEV. What I cannot find is pictures of the mounting at the back. I do not know if the studs are placed horizontally or vertically.

Has anyone used these parts and are they serviceable? I could fix what I have but the labor will be expensive as it needs much work. The truck lights are cheap enough if no one has any info I will probably grab one of each to see what I can do with them. I would prefer the version with studs as I assume the back would look more like the CEV than a universal design. Stud spacing and size looks as if it will work but the studs need to be horizontal.

Thanks
Eric

Try Wolfgang Haerter at Columbia Car and Cycle, Eric. Looks like he has them listed on his website ...

... then Lights, page 3.

Okay I discovered that my local auto parts store sold the Trucklites version 80463R . It has 2 studs on the back in about the same location. The pictures show they are vertically orientated so I called the company and the sales lady assured me that they were vertical. I stopped in to order the universal model just to see if I could get away with it and they had a 80463R in stock, you guessed it ... studs are horizontal.

The body is metal and slightly more tapered, lenses are a slightly different pattern. The studs fit fine (though SAE mot metric) and work as good as OEM. The wiring all looks as good as OEM. I think you could fit the CEV lens if you felt the need with a little work for a more correct look. All in all to pick up a NEW tail/stop/license plate light I think you could do worse than this for under $10.

I do not think it is as good as the real CEV 9313 but it is a good enough (maybe better) replica to run while searching for your unobtanium NOS 9313.

the cev 9313 does not have vertical studs nor does the bracket it mounts too... and if you really dont care what it looks like, just about any auto parts store woldwide will sell you a utility trailer light that looks "similar" If you do care what it looks like i would just buy a 9313 they are available all over the place they used them on ducati, aermacchi, harley, moto guzzi, benelli, penton, etc... these are just a few, they where probably used on a lot more makes actually.

Joe I think you misunderstood.
The CEV 9313 is a horizontal stud arangement.
So is the Trucklites version 80463R
The pictures of the aftermarket light as well as the information from the company itself was wrong, that was what I found humorous.
The 9313 is available used I did find a few mostly beat up versions for 4 times the cost of the knockoff. of course I could have repaired them and had them painted and then it would have been "correct" but probably no better than the knockoff for what the user is going to do.

I would prefer that someone who does care that they have the original has the chance to get one.
