Here's one you don't see very often ..

Postby Ventodue » Thu Aug 30, 2012 4:51 pm

A 450 of the type built, I'm told, for certain Italian municipal police forces. Comes complete with deeply valanced mudguards (fenders), crash bars, side cases and rack. And a good price too - €2,800. Only snag: it's in Palermo ...

As someone who's always burning his right side trouser leg on the silencer, I particularly like the silencer guard ... 8-)

Gowie has those panniers in stock if anyone feels the need to own a set (or he did several months ago).

Hi Phil,

In fact, I think I've got my identification a little wrong  . Altho' this model did apparently originate as a bike for the police, it was also sold to the general public as a tourer under the name of the 450 T (or TS, depending on which cam was fitted). Like this one:

Which piccie was pulled off here, where it is claimed that only 34 were ever built -? :?: :

I rather like Massimo Clarke's comment on the styling: "Dotata di una estetica non proprio modernissima ..." (Endowed with not exactly the most modern of appearances ...). But it did at least come with 12 volt electrics (wooh!). Again according to Massimo Clarke, it met with no commercial success - so maybe the figure of 34 sold is correct ? - and was pulled off the market at the start of 1973.

Ciao

Craig

P.s Just noticed it's only got a single leading shoe. As it weighs 160 kg, asking it to stop in a hurry must be fun ... :o

Here's the police model ...

Single seat on this one. Massimo Clarke has photos of one with a dual seat. But both are equiped with the "Ducati" Pedestrian Slicer on the front mudguard ... :o

Sharp eyes there, Eldert ;) . Both the other bikes have got them, too.* Must have been standard equipment.

* And the one in Massimo Clarke's book ...

Yes I have seen pics of the 450 T/TS.

Here is a pic of a single seat 450 Mk3.

What market was that for?
Thanks Phil, I've never seen one like that before.

There's a 1971 Motociclismo review of the T/TS on sale on eBay right now ...
