Trying to Find Info on Gearing/Sprocket Sizes
I'm trying to find information on what sprocket sizes came stock on the various singles models and not having much luck. I've tried the search function here, tried searching the web and can't find much. I'm curious about what front and rear sprocket sizes came on the various narrow case models. Sorry if it's already on a thread somewhere and I missed it. Thanks. Jon

Chain-sprocket Sizes of Various Duke-models
" I'm trying to find information on what sprocket sizes came stock on the various singles models

____ While I'm sure that I've already stated the stock sprocket-sizes of most-all Duke-models (within various threads), I'm sure there have never been any posts which have listed them all together in just one posting !
I'll now begin that listing here, beginning with the 250s (as I'm not sure about the smaller models). ...
__ 250-Monza ============= 45 & 17teeth
__ 250-Motocross =====-==== 55 & 14t
__ 250-GT ================ 45 & 18t
__ 250-Mark-III =========== 43 & 18t
__ 250-Mach-I & Mark-3 ==== 40 & 18t
__ 250-Scrambler ('66) ===-== 50 & 14t
__ 350-Sebring ======-===== 45 & 17t
__ 250/350 w-c.Scrambler == 45 & 15t
__ 250/350-Mk3 & DESMO == 40 & 15t
__ 450-Scrambler ========= 35 & 12t
__ 450-Mk3 & DESMO ===-== 32 & 12t
__ 450-R/T ============== 50 & 12t
__ If there's any other model I've left-out, then let me know and I'll look-up the info within my old notes (which I'll then hope I can still find).
Duke-Cheers,
-Bob

Re: Trying to Find Info on Gearing/Sprocket Sizes
Thanks for posting that! It's nice to see it all lined up in one place. I don't see anything for the '62-'65 Scrambler. Would that be the same as the '66 Scrambler you listed? Thanks. Jon

The 250 Scrambler & Motocross Models
" I don't see anything for the '62-'65 Scrambler. "
____ The scrambler-model was called the 'Motocross' I think until 1963 (+/- a year), but was pretty-much the very-same until 1966 when (by then) it had rightfully become 'Scrambler' !
I definitely recall certainly calling the 1965-model a "Scrambler", but actually it was the same version as the 'Motocross' ! _ In my good opinion though, the 1966-Scrambler was the first such model well deserving of that particular name-change (from Motocross). _ I believe Berliner was behind the (somewhat premature) name-change from 250-Motocross to 250-Scrambler, (due to marketing trends).
__ For clarification (for the youth among us), a 'scrambler' was the common-name given for cycles/bikes which were road-machines made to be suitably useful off-road. _ Whereas 'motocross' machines were pretty-much strictly made of off-road riding, (& 'enduros' were off-road machines that were made to be fully street-legal).
If ya look-over & compare the 1966-Scrambler with those 250-scr.type Duke-models previous to the 1966-model, it's then certainly obvious that all the older versions are little-different from the original 'Motocross' model ! - So that's why I allow them all (previous to the '66) to fall-under the 'Motocross' name.
I-myself did not really bother to keep-up & closely follow the off-road aspect of motorcycles & DUCATIs way back then at the time but, I'm thinking that Ducati's Motocross-name was possibly changed-over to 'Scrambler' once the (notorious) brake-light circuit was added (about the time that the 5-speeder came-to-be).
If I had acquired the owner's-manuals with most-all the scr.type DUKEs I ever got my hands on, then I could be quite certain of which year the name-change actually took-place.
Does anyone have owner's-manuals for any of the pre-1966 motocross-type models (so we can all learn for-sure what Ducati had actually named them as) ?
" Would that be the same as the '66 Scrambler you listed? "
____ No (not really!), or I would not have bothered to include the added-detail: "('66)".
