Motocicli Veloci?

Postby JimF » Sun Jul 10, 2011 4:25 pm

I want to order something from Motocicli Veloci but I would:

A) like to find out if they have the item in stock
and

B) not worry about my credit card information getting hijacked between here and there.

Does anyone know if they have an english speaking person that can come to the phone?

Has anyone ever had problems faxing their credit card information internationally?

They have an order form on-line that you can email back to them, but here too I get the heebie-jeebies when I think of transmitting my full credit card information over email.

Thanks,

Jim

It amazes me how many companies go through the work of building a commercial website and then make it practically impossible to purchase anything from them. Motocicli Veloci, Menani, the Italian Scrambler Club, Guzzino, BevelHeaven, Old Racing Spares, etc, all have products I would buy if only it was easy and secure, like hitting 'Buy It Now' on Ebay. I think PayPal is the de facto standard for online transactions, why don't these companies offer a simple PayPal button to purchase? I wouldn't send a credit card number in an email, and I don't trust any 'shopping cart' system other than PayPal- the 3% PayPal charges would be more than made up in increased sales volume. I've sent emails to some of these companies offering to pay the PayPal fee if they would just send me a PayPal invoice, but didn't get a reply from any of them.
So I just patiently wait for parts to turn up on Ebay. If Citibank can be hacked, purchasing from these companies is too much of a risk for me to take.

I know. I joined the Amici de scrambler group. I paid the 20 euro registration fee, but I had to do it as a bank transfer that cost me 40$ to do it. Doesnt the rest of the world have Paypal or is it just the US?

I was sufficiently concerned about this sort of thing that i got myself a credit card with a $1,000 limit just for such purposes. I even use it for Paypal, and I work in the IT industry!!

The rest of the world (speaking from the United States vantage point) routinely perform bank transfers across international lines, and for little or no fees.

I once had to pay a guy in Germany for a Del'Orto SSI29 and he wanted a bank transfer. That cost me another $50 and a half hour with a bank employee. The rest of the world does not realize that the US is ill-equipped to handle bank transfer transactions, particularly where currency conversions are incurred.

(On a side note the Del'Orto turned out to be brand spanking new which was a complete and extremely pleasant surprise.)

Bottom Line:
Giorgio Tronconi at Moto Veloci is emailing me in very acceptable English and they will take Pay Pal.
You can email Giorgio at info@motocicliveloci.it to get information regarding stock and delivery charges.
You can pay using PayPal to that same email address. PayPal permits you to change the currency for your payment to Euros.

I placed an order several days ago. I paid for air shipping (quite expensive.) I should get it soon as a result. I will report when it arrives.

I ordered a set of clip-ons from Motocicli Veloci that look like the original Mach 1/Mark 3 clip-ons, but I needed 32mm for the larger forks on my newest 250.

The clip-ons arrived today.

The clip-ons appear to be of the highest quality. I cannot fault anything about them. No disapointments whatsoever. I'll file a final report once I install them.
