Duker vs. biker

Postby DewCatTea-Bob » Wed Apr 13, 2011 3:57 am

" What's to say that you're not already a "duker", you've got the duker prize!
What's the criteria of a duker, anyway? "

____ I'd be very pleased to list all that which separates a 'Duker' from a mere 'biker' !
And it seems to me that anyone who wonders whether or not they're a Duker, is someone who's probably not a true Duker. ...

__ The first thing which separates a true Duker from all the mere bikers out there is that they are uniquely stimulated by the stunning appearance of any Duke OHC-motor fitted within it's near equally striking Ducati-styled body-work ! _ (If you're someone who doesn't get that special-feeling whenever ya lay eyes on a Duke, then YOU're not a Duker, or else you'd have an idea of what I'm trying to put into words.)
__ Next, a true Duker really loves riding his Duke, if not better than any other bike he's ever ridden, then at least with the realization that he's experiencing an especially desirable ride which NO OTHER bike can provide ! _ And of special note, a Duker finds the exhaust-notes of the accelerating, cruising, & decelerating engine, more pleasing than any other !
__ Next, a true Duker much enjoys doing whatever work he can on his Duke regardless of whether it really needs it, and also quite often finds himself daydreaming about some work or other which he wishes to do on it, (and even enjoys that kind of daydreaming more than any other subject, most of the time).
(I'd say that in order for a Duker to be a true Duker without ever doing any of his own work, he'd then have to be an owner of at least one Duc.Single AND never care to own any other non-bevel motorcycle.)
__ One doesn't need to be a current-owner of a Duke in order to be a Duker, but he does wish for the day !
To non-Dukers, Dukers seem to be under a sort of spell to worship bevel-DUCs,, but even if strangely true, we Dukers don't much really care cuz we love our love for Dukes !
____ Those of you who've read my above wording and understand what I've meant to convey, already realize that you're a Duker, (as opposed to a mere biker who doesn't get-it).
Explaining to a biker what it's like to be a Duker, is perhaps even more difficult than a biker trying to explain to a non-biker what it's like to be a biker.
__ I expect that only about 1 in 3 (at best) of all of us registered here, are true Dukers,, and most of the rest are simply prospective Duker want-to-be types. _ I hope I'll be proven wrong about that low ratio guestimate !
I'm far from done with what all I'd have to say about this Duker-subject, and if there's any worth-while response to this, I'll move it all to a dedicated thread.

Duker-Forever,
-Bob
PLEASE NOTE... If this-post is not-yet signed-off with '-Bob', then I'm still in the process of completing it,, and if not also included with 'DCT' near bottom as well, then I may edit this post's wording at a later time. - Dct.Bob
