On it's first long run I had an oil leak from my NC250 Mk3, that seems to be from the tacho drive. It seems like oil is being driven up the cable, then leaking down the outside from the end at the Veglia tacho. Nigel suggested the oil seal on the output shaft needs replacing, but I want to check how to take the tacho drive apart. Are the blanking covers screwed in, and is there a specific tool or peg spanner for them, or do |I need to improvise?

Re: Tacho drive disassembly
That's the type of revcounter drive gearbox on my single.
The aluminium caps are threaded and are removable.
To prevent possible scarring or damage, I would make a simple tool from a piece of steel plate that fits nicely in the slots.
