I got the 250 running today, started almost first kick, which is good for a bike that's sat around for several years. Previously it seemed to be running rich on the Mikuni VM26 but lowering the needle a notch made it run beautifully, not that I rode it.
But I really don't like the standard tank mounts: where it bolts onto either side of the frame headstem, there's metal on metal. I'd like to get some rubber washers in there but that would mean bending the tabs at the front of the tank. The bike needs a paint job but I have to sort this out first.
Advice from the wise much appreciated.
Peter.

Re: 250 Monza: improve tank mounts?
I found a good solution . Buy a box of mixed rubber grommets . fit grommets to tank ears . buy a length of alloy tube (Wikes DIY) that the tank bolts thread just fits inside. Hacksaw two lengths of tube to be just short of the fitted grommets , fit the tube inside the grommets with some black setting silicone that will stop them falling out when you take the tank off. fit tank and tighten the bolts which will bite on the alloy tube but still leave the tank flexibly mounted but wont unscrew themselves. Still looks standard ,but works. Not like the std arrangement.
