24 Horas

A dealer local to me is offering a 1970 24 Horas for sale.
I might go and have a look after Christmas.
What do I need to look out for (apart from general condition), as I imagine there are 'replicas' out there masquerading as the real thing. I would need to see the documentation, if there is any.
Engine and frame numbers are a clue, but I don't know what they are yet for this bike. Were frame/engine numbers the same?
As ffar as I caan ascertain, the bike was imported in 2014, then sold by Made in Italy in 2018. I t appears to have travelled 1 km since then .
It's advertised as a 24 Horas Desmo (clearly not), so I'll be taking dealer information with a large pinch of salt.

The 24 Horas is possibly the best narrowcase Ducati single produced.
The forks, frame and swinging arm are much stiffer than the Italian models, but the motor is fairly different from anything Italian.
The bike up for sale looks like a genuine 24 Horas from the first series. This has a single leading shoe 200mm front brake, rather than the later twin leading shoe model. It also has the early fork yokes, which have been chromed in place of the original paint.
Early 24 horas models should have the speedo in the headlight and no tacho, rather than the later type of clocks in the rubber binnacle as shown.
The engine and frame numbers will not match, but should start 97--- . Early 24Hs had the frame stamped on the RHS of the spine of the frame, above the battery tray, whereas later ones were stamped on the headstock.
Be aware that the fuel tank on a 24h is fibreglass, and will not like modern fuel. I sent an old 24h tank off to India to have it copied in aluminium, and they are now being produced there, in both ally and steel.
The bike in the advert has been for sale for some time, so there may be room for a bit of negotiation.
It looks fairly sound depending on how it runs.

That's useful, thanks.
The 24H at the dealer looks to be a series one with the headlamp, yokes, seat and gearlever from a series 2.
Further investigation needed.
