VMCC Levis Cup trial

Grand day out last Sunday doing the VMCC Levis Cup trial on my 175TS for the second time.
The only Italian machine entered this year.
I seem to have finally got the carb settings sorted and it ran really well all day.

I guess that "Trial" means something a little different in the UK than it does here in the colonies...I was expecting to see one of those Ducati trials bikes...BTW, I can't imagine how a Ducati could be a decent bike for trials given the fact that the most populated threads on any Ducati related forum relate to getting the little buggers to start and then run consistently...you don't want to be worried about your bike giving up the ghost whilst trying to get up a icy waterfall in Scotland...

I’d say it pulls away better but top end speed is no different. I think the small valves in the 175 head limit the breathing.

There are off-road trials of varying levels of difficulty, but the Levis Cup is a regularity event all on public roads. It’s been running for decades and is really aimed at proper veteran machines, some of which are challenged by the ‘test hills’ on the route. My bike only just qualifies as it’s relatively modern and doesn’t get any bonus points for belt-drive, single speed, hand change etc. I have to aim for 24mph average over the course, with random checkpoints. Odometer must be covered. Results not announced yet but I doubt I’ll be on the podium!
