Identification

Postby lscart » Tue Apr 13, 2021 12:02 pm

Hi,
I have a 250 bevel engine which I want to identify and hopefully rebuild as it was originally.
The number on the casing is MD86952MD everywhere I look they say it should be DM, is this a Spanish built engine?

Hi

Yes, definitely Spanish.

I believe (though others may know better) that it is a De Luxe engine from the '60's.
Cheers

This is a list of frame numbers and models.
It's unlikely that the engine and frame numbers would have been the same, but should be fairly close.

Just be slightly wary of that chart of frame numbers.
In most cases it is correct, but there are mistakes and omissions in it.
Note that Iscarts engine number starts 86--- and the chart shows the first 250 De Luxe numbers as 87---, yet the first De Luxe numbers actually started at 85---
I have never seen a completely accurate list of Mototrans engine or frame numbers in books or on the net yet.
I rely on my own notes recorded over the years.

Jon
