seat swap

Postby Fossilrider » Sat Mar 06, 2021 3:45 am

A quick (?) question guys. I am nearing the end of my '67 350 Sebring project and have hit a small snag. I, as some here have probably read, don't like the square style body work so, as for now, have decided to run the older style Sebring smooth tank. No problem..... until I installed my newly upholstered seat ( the one that went with the square tank). Now there is a 2" gap between the tank and seat! has anyone had to deal with this situation before? Should I try to find the seat that goes with the round tank or modify the seat I have? Any help/ideas would be appreciated.

The square style seats mount differently from round style seats. Either solution will entail modifications.

I would modify the seat mounting points...may require welding.

Thanks guys, figured as much. Being a welder, that is no problem, I will just have to be careful to not burn the new cover. I didn't realize the mountings were different before I found myself in this situation. I was hoping the system was the same but just located farther back on the other seat which would have slid the seat forward. Regards, Steve
