I had a slider on a BSA that was sticking in one spot and the stanchions were perfectly straight. It turned out that the slider had suffered some impact damage at some point in its life and was dented slightly. I used a small diameter flap wheel in a drill with an extension bar to abrade away the offending area inside the slider and all was sweet after that. Let's hope yours behaves itself and wears in - or..... only go out when the weather is warm

Re: Forks sticking
That's good news Ian that everything is straight.

Re: Forks sticking
I was wondering that. Is it possible to shine a torch inside the slider and look for a polished area where it may have been sticking?

Re: Forks sticking
There’s nothing obvious inside or outside the slider. It’s all back together now and seems OK.
One further mystery....when I first built it, the front wheel needed a small spacer on the left to centralise it. I used a 1mm bevel shim. It now seems better without it!
