Shopping for front and rear tires

I need a new set of 2.75-18 tires for my 250 narrow case, both front and rear.

I'm located in the US.

Nine out of 10 online ads I see in 2.75-18 tires are for dual purpose front/rear tires. The one exception I see is for an Avon Street Runner front tire.

I'm looking for advice:

Should I go with an Avon front and a dual purpose on the back?

Or should I go with matched dual purpose tires front and rear?

If you've bought from a good vendor recently and want to point me in their general direction and tell me what brand tires you bought, feel free.

Hi Jim, I recently had to re-tyre my Narrow case 250 , Was a bit shocked by the prices!!, Eventually found some Metzeller ME22 at half the price, look and fit great if a little modern. These tyres are Universal fit so can be used front or rear. For some reason only speed rated to a continuos 93 mph so have to stop trying to outrun 650's!.The tyres I fitted are slightly wider than std 2.75 instead of 2.50 etc. Fit ok and feel great. I doubt the orriginal tyres would meet this speed rating .

Dunlop TT 100. GP compound are good (Japan)

But not sure you get them over there?
Last rear I bought was made in Thailand or somewhere but not Japan. I was disappointed but it was as good

Ps. Good wet and dry but rears don’t last that long

Metzeler me22......have used them again and again, never any problems, really good tyre.

Does anyone know of a US distributor for ME22 tires?

It does not bode well for an American when every website the search engine returns is using the spelling "tyre".

I know they won't break in shipment, but the expense of the shipping could be as much as the tires.

Hi Jim, I often see Ducati parts for sale in the US, pointless for me to bid as postage and import taxes kill the deal. My ME22 tyres came from Germany and took ages to arrive. Thought I was buying from a UK source but was deceived.Would you believe I'm just now fitting that remote float you helped me to get, how the years fly by.

I was going to put Pirelli City Demon on my 175, as price seems good and tread pattern is not too modern looking. Alternative might have been Michelin City Pro which are similar price here in UK, but having seen the Metzeler ME22 on a little Honda tonight I might have a change of mind.

Is it just me, or is it really difficult to find a 2.5 X 18 front tyre, as originally fitted to the 175 narrow cases? Heidenau seems to be one of the few that do both.

seems to be a choice available in 2.75 X 18, but the narrower size not so much? Does it even matter if I use the larger size I wonder?

My 175 came with 2.75 on front, 3.00 on rear so was going to stick to those sizes. According to my book, this was the size fitted to the 200 Elite. Got wheels back today, so tyres might be useful. No forks yet, so no imminent danger of riding it.
