Rust pitting on cam

Postby Bevel bob » Tue Sep 05, 2017 7:47 am

I have a couple of used cams that have pitting on the lobes, has anyone used cams in this condition ,and not had problems?

Not used pitted cams on a Ducati , but regularly on older British bikes, if the profile is still good and the pitting of a minor nature , my opinion is you would be ok..or spend money and get them resurfaced by one of the specialist cam guys.talk to Newman cams in farnborough Kent, super bloke to deal with

Hi. I bought the cams as advertised to be MK3 ,but are probably Monza, Would really like a grey Mach 1 cam to replace the GW cam in my 250 which is just a bit too fussy for an old plodder like me ,I don't need 10,000 revs! Not sure the Monza cam can be re grinded to a grey spec ,not enough lift or duration. Will pop into Newmans anyway thanks.

As he is local to you could well be worth a visit, being in Scotland I had to deal by post. Helpful, and did the job on time
