I rebuilt this SSI 27 A for my 200SS, I made the bellmouth, top ring retaining clip, and mounting flange. which has on O-ring on the stub into the clamp fitting. Other parts have been re-plated,
I searched for ages for an SS2 float camber, but to no avail, I obtained a new top cover, float, and inlet banjo, and made the rest, machining the chamber from a billet.
But needless to say, after this exercise, I found one for the give away sum of £20. So I am now in a quandary, as to which one to use.
I run an Amal 1-1/2” GP on my Goldstar, which works well, but is happier at speed. The SSI being very similar to the Amal TT, which was the forerunner of the GP, is also an instrument best suited to the high end, and requires attention in setting up.
It has all the correct internals as listed for a 27mm SSI fitment on a 200SS, so I am hoping it all goes according to plan when the day comes.
I have made an adapter which fits in the jet holder with a transparent tube, to set the fuel height, But I am more than open to any setting up tips.
