Wow, that IS a different one, I can't find a single feature that it would share with any other n-c frame I've seen. If not for the rear motor mounts I'd never guess it was Ducati... Looks much stiffer than the standard frame, the swingarm pivot seems like an improvement. Is it heavy? Was it a production frame? How long will you keep us in suspense as to what is is?

Eldert's Picture of a 125-Scrambler Frame...

Postby DewCatTea-Bob » Sat Feb 26, 2011 5:27 am

" it is a frame from a 125 scrambler . i think they where made around 1971 "

____ I've never forgotten about a short article with picture which I recall seeing in a cycle-mag (I think a fall-1970 issue of 'Cycle World'), which specifically covered a Ducati 125-Scrambler model ! _ I recall thinking how much it's motor looked just the same as the 160-motor, also recall that the article stated "11 BHP" was claimed for it !
However, as good as my memory is about that 125-model, (which so far as I know, never did get imported into the U.S.), I did not recognize (from Eldert's pic) that this is the same frame which it must have had.
And at the time, I had then assumed that the entire Duke-model was made in Italy. I now realize it makes more sense that it was (probably) actually a Mototrans produced model.
__ Eldert, do you have a picture of it complete with motor, as well ?
And if this is one of your own DUKEs, do you know what that 125-engine's bore & stroke is ?

____ Concerning Eldert's posted-pic...
While I had thought that Jim's pictures were too dark, Eldert's picture is so extra very-dark, that on MY monitor, it's almost completely black (except for a small slightly lighter area seen just above where the frame's back-bone is located) !
__ I'm sorry to continue-on about dark-pix, (as it now seems that it may be an issue ONLY on my-own monitor), but since I may not be the only one who still can't properly see Eldert's picture (as it's presented in his posting), and it also doesn't view-display completely (it's right-most side) for those of us using the Firefox-browser,, I'm therefore including a brightened-version of Eldert's picture (below).
(Even though I've brightened the original picture considerably, the lower-left area [where the black-colored drooping swing-arm blends-in with the dark-background near the floor], is STILL too-dark to be seen very-well on MY monitor! _ But I've refrained from lightening it any further because I've come to gather that my lightened-up altered-pictures show-up as way-too over-exposed on some others' monitors.)

Hopeful-Cheers,
DCT-Bob

Sorry to bring an old thread back to life... But your post on another forum (Below) grabbed my attention, and now I must know the result, or at the very least it's progress since I have the same frame.
Picked up a narrow crankcase 350 Ducati engine

so i am planning to fit the 350 engine in the 125 engine craddle

Looks cool.
You wouldn't happen to have a better picture of that 125's rear fender would you? I'm trying to find the correct one, but I'm not sure about some of the features and hole locations.
TIA
James
