Bob,
I was going to suggest that your browser might be the problem, but Bodge beat me to it. My old XP computer was fully updated with all Microsoft updates including SP3. I used IE8 as my browser as I didn't like Firefox, also it had problems with certain websites also. It seemed to me that both browsers had problems and I just liked IE8 better. my computer worked it was just so SLOW! I couldn't stand it.

Microsoft no longer supports XP so there will be no more updates. I don't see any reason why the SP3 update you have would cause you a problem. it is my understanding that the only time they know your copy of windows has been used more then allowed is when you try to download updates from their website. Since you don't need to do that there shouldn't be a problem.
if you want to carry on with the way things are now I suppose you could just use IE when you need to upload a picture and Firefox when you don't. whatever you do your PC's days are numbered so to speak as it is already on borrowed time.
You said you bought a newer PC, but it wasn't working properly. It would be best to try to make that one work. did you contact the seller from eBay to let them know your issue? if they sold you a bad computer they would owe you a refund. If they refuse to make thing right you can open a dispute with PayPal.
Good luck,
Aaron

just reading firefox support for xp is meant to be ongoing so you might get a fix for it.
dont know how inclined you are to mess about with pc,s but you can get free o.s like xubuntu that you can download and put on a usb stick,if you computer can support boot from usb you can try it without messing with your current setup and if you get on with it youve got no more licensing issues or o.s cost ever!

" I was going to suggest that your browser might be the problem, but Bodge beat me to it. "

____ He beat me too, as I-myself should've suspected my browser since I've experienced similar web-page presentation oddities in the past (with Int.Explorer). _ But I've never before noticed any such malfunctioning page-display oddities using a Firefox-browser, (but rather merely-just varied display-arrangements of web-page presentations [compared to I.E.]).

" I used IE8 as my browser as I didn't like Firefox,
and I just liked IE8 better. "

____ I also always preferred I.E., until it was no-longer without web-page display issues.

" my computer worked it was just so SLOW! "

____ Mine also experienced overly slow progress, when web-browsing with I.E., (which is another reason why I switched to Firefox) !

" I suppose you could just use IE when you need to upload a picture and Firefox when you don't. "

____ Of-course that juggling-act has already inevitably occurred to me,, but not only would that be an inconvenience, I've found that using I.E. to turn our w.site-pages is quite frustrating since it takes over 1-minite for each requested page to load-up and finally become scrollable !

" You said you bought a newer PC, but it wasn't working properly. It would be best to try to make that one work. "

____ I eventually intend to do so,, but due-to my advanced arthritis condition, I've been unable to handle it (as it's a cumbersome PC-with-monitor unit).

" did you contact the seller from eBay to let them know your issue? "

____ Yes, and he said to ship it back to him,, but I'm not able to handle & send-out such large packages.

" if they sold you a bad computer they would owe you a refund. "

____ Back when I got it in 2013, I had been looking to purchase a monitor for about the same 125-$,, and-so when I discovered the entire fairly new PC & monitor for that same price-range, I thought it was a steal of a bargain (since it was stated to be in good/slightly-used condition and it's eBay-listing showed pictures of it fully booted-up and operating !).
So for it's bargain-price (and cost of return shipping, timely handling-troubles, etc), it wasn't deemed really worth the trouble of going-ahead & trying to achieve a refunded-status.

____ Thanks a lot Aaron, for your undue concern and contribution to this thread !
And I'm sorry that most-all of your efforts turned-out to be non-directly associated with what the actual cause of the issue turned-out to really be.
Hopefully at-least some of your contributions to this thread will help others,, as I had expected this thread to-do, anyway.

Thankful-Cheers,
-Bob

" just reading firefox support for xp is meant to be ongoing so you might get a fix for it. "

____ That's unexpected, (so I'm wondering how old the info you read is ?) ! ...
Prior to 2014,, Firefox always automatically self-updated with many numerous successive versions on a fairly regular basis, with each update-version announcing itself upon completion of it's installation. _ However the last time it did so, it came with a special announcement stating that Firefox would no-longer continue-on supporting Windows-XP, (and even went on to mention switching-over to other browsers [such as Opera] once the present/latest-version expires !). _ And after that, my PC no-longer received automatic-updates of newer versions anymore.
__ Anyhow, it'd seem that you're notion of possibly finding a fix wasn't wrong anyway...
As upon searching for any long established listing of all (still available) XP compatible browsers,, I then found & learned that my most recent version of Firefox (that was last auto-installed) was actually not the newest XP compatible version (as I had assumed), after-all !
It seems there was (at least) one more newer version that was meant to remain compatible with XP ! _ And I downloaded nearly an entire list of Firefox-app.versions to possibly try-out,, and the first promising version I selected to go-ahead & install, has turned-out to fill-the-bill, as the new software-update method for uploading pictures now seems to work (as likely intended), fully successfully !
So of-course I'm now quite happy that I won't have-to deal with the SLOW page-loading process of my old version of Int.Explorer !

" dont know how inclined you are to mess about with pc,s "

____ As like with Ducati's, I'm very inclined ! _ However my ability to follow-through with my inclinations, is very-much limited !
__ Before Win.Vista-equipped PCs became standardly available on most-all PCs,, back between 2001 & 2006, I was then as a PC.tech, and-so I was then well 'into' the innards of PCs and dealt with many aspects concerning that era of PCs. _ But have become pretty-much ignorant of PC.development/advancements since then !
But I guess I'm still fairly interested in messing-about with them, from an external standpoint.

" you can get free o.s like xubuntu that you can download and put on a usb stick,if you computer can support boot from usb you can try it without messing with your current setup "

____ Of such as that, I've been aware and am indeed inclined to mess with (once I really need to).

____ Thanks for inspiring me to get-around to trying your productive suggestion (sooner than I probably would've eventually discovered on my own) !

Thankful-Cheers,
