nc gearboxes
just having a quick look thro mick walkers ducati singles it seems that apart from the early 125 s all the narrow case 4 speeds shared the same ratio's.anyone know if the parts are interchangable throught the various engine sizes ?

Re: nc gearboxes
Easy to check if parts interchange between models - just see if the part numbers are the same.
Ducati carried over the numbers if they were same as previous models.
I have parts on my 750GT that were also used on 125 singles.
I think it may be different for the Mototrans models though, which have their own numbering scheme.

Yes, it seems you need to download some software, before they will open?
The PDF versions are easy though - much more "portable" - but don't cover the parts lists.

Re: nc gearboxes
anyone know if 175 gearbox will fit in 250 case ? really need to know now as ive just realised my empty 250 cases are 5 speed (im assuming a four speed gearbox wont fit in nc 5 speed cases)and ive started looking at having to buy new cases

Re: nc gearboxes
A 175 4-speed gearbox will not fit in 5-speed cases. You'll probably find a complete 5-speed transmission more easily than a set of 175 cases, especially if you need a "pre-modification" type case. Might be better to focus on assembling the 5-speed. Matt

Re: nc gearboxes
i was thinking of building the 250 with the 175 parts (both are nc) as i assumed the 250 was 4 speed, having just realised its 5 speed its either try and find the 5 speed bits or a whole new set of 4 speed 250 cases to put the 175 gearbox in unless a complete 250 motor turns up for sensible money (highly unlikely).what do you mean by pre and post modification?

Re: nc gearboxes
The 175/200 service manual describes a change in design to the clutch hub support. Pre-modification cases had bearings pressed into the case that support the clutch basket. Post modification have the bearings in the clutch basket itself, similar to the 250 clutch design.

Somehow I'm not surprised at this, my 72 125 Scrambler is proving to be a more of a challenging puzzle than I expected, what really is surprising is that there is no collected information resource that I've come across, no shop manuals from my searches on the net have turned up, I would think something would exist for the dealers to service the bikes they sell, maybe I'm not searching with the best terms....
If anyone comes across useful information, please post it here:
