Trying to ID my 250 and intro

Hello , I just came across this forum by chance and joined . It seems to be a wealth of info and resource . Not too long ago , I acquired what is supposed to be a 1973 250 Scrambler . It doesnt match any of the pictures that are available to me . I want to restore it and upgrade it with proper mods . Any help would be appreciated .

I think it might be a Mototrans Ducati... Made in Spain under license from Ducati.

It does say ''made in Spain'' on the right cover . What does it mean in terms of parts and value ?

You certainly do have a Spanish built Mototrans machine.
It is a widecase 250 Road model,produced from late 1972 until about 1977/1978.
From your photos it looks to be in fairly standard original condition.
Roads are particularly hard to date because they were produced in both narrowcase and widecase format, and had a slightly strange numbering system.
You may have a frame number stamped on the steering head.
The frame and engine numbers may help date your machine, but it's almost certainly after 1974.

____ Your scrambler-like '250 ROAD' -(as it was officially named), appears to be the very-same as those Spanish/Mototrans-models which were imported into the U.S. for 1972 ! _ So if you're in the USA, then it was probably sold & titled as a '73-model (although actually built sometime between late-71 & late-72).
__ I also own one of these 1972-models myself, and I believe it's motor-number starts with 112345 (or the likes).
__ Looks like yours also still has the original-muffler (with it's slotted-ex.outlets),, that's especially fortunate, as I've never heard a nicer sounding muffler than that model's particular exhaust-note !

I am in the US , Chicagoland to be exact . The title does state it as a 1973 . We got it running with a fair amount of ease . It seems to be all there with the exception of the sidestand and stock bars .

Is this a bike worth restoring or should it be ridden like it is ?
