Hello all!
Been a while since I've posted as I've not been riding the Mach 1 very often.
I'm about to pull it down and give it a freshen up with new paint, polish and wiring. I have found a supplier for the original style of fabric shielded wiring but I'm unsure of how much of each colour I'll need.
So, could anyone give me the approx length I'll need of each colour?

Re: Mach 1 Wiring
Hello Octane,
My bike's wires were not fabric jacketed but rather were plastic jacketed.
The Mach 1 if my records are correct used:
Brown 48 inches
White 24 inches
Black 48 inches
Black with a white stripe 24 inches
Black with a yellow stripe 72 inches
Black with a blue stripe 48 inches
Red 66 inches
Green 30 inches
Gray 48 inches
Yellow 24 inches
This is if you have everything: Horn, factory regulator, headlight bucket lamps and switchgear.
Jim

Re: Mach 1 Wiring
I don't want to hijack this thread, but was the original wiring on mid-60s Ducatis fabric wrapped or plastic wrapped?

Re: Mach 1 Wiring
You're not hijacking it. My earliest Ducati was either made in 1964 or 1965, and it had plastic jacketed wires as did every other later Ducati I have ever owned.
Let's wait and see if anyone has different findings to report.

Here are some pics from the internals of a 1965 Mach 1 headlight and the main loom.

____ While indeed there could possibly be such a perceived occurrence,, further question-responses posed by any others are just as acceptably welcome as the more expected answer-responses, so long as the topic/subject somehow remains at-least a direct-tangent to the original thread-topic.
" was the original wiring on mid-60s Ducatis fabric wrapped or plastic wrapped? "
____ I really don't recall for-sure exactly when but, I believe the switch-over occurred by late 1963.
So certainly if a Duke-model newer than 1964 is found fitted with wiring covered by the older woven-fabric type insulation-material,, then it must've been refurbished some-time since, with a replacement-harness originally made for an old 4-speed Monza.
Duke-Cheers,

Re: Mach 1 Wiring
Sorry for the delay. I've had a busy time finishing up at work (finally quit after 10 years of heartache) and I've been busy over the holiday season (mostly drinking
)
Thanks so much for the replies!! Especially those measurements Jim! I'll get a few extra inches of each just to be safe.
My bike was restored just before I purchased it by the previous owner, but as I've done a LOT (10,000+) of kilometers in the past 3 years, it's due for another tidy up.
I have to replace and repair some cracked metal work, repaint it, and vapour blast and polish everything. I'm going to Japan in early February for 1 year minimum, but as I'm not working any more, I'm hoping to have everything done and reassembled in time to crate it up and send it over before I go.
My bike is from 1965. So I should be putting plastic shielded wiring through it? It'll probably be more durable than fabric, especially as I intend to ride the bike a lot in Japan.
The fabric shielded wiring is more aesthetically pleasing to my eyes though

Re: Mach 1 Wiring
The plastic jackets are generally speaking resistant to oil, gas and sunlight's UV rays. I am unsure how fabric jackets endure the same environments. Considering the use, you are likely to have spills or seeps of all three contaminants mentioned.
