All,
Would one of you kind folks mind taking photos of the seat, tank and battery mounts of your single... hopefully a Sebring?
The mounts for all three components have been molested on my bike (so I'd like to return to original condition), but I can't find a detailed photo of the three areas.
I think I have a pretty good idea on the battery and tank, but the seat is a mystery to me. Would like to have multiple photos of the front mount of the seat if I could please. The back seat mount appears pretty self-explanatory.
Thanks in advance,
Mike

____ It should be noted that the front seat-mount of a 1965-Sebring is very-much different from all newer Sebrings !
Furthermore, the '65-Sebring/Monza frame is pretty-much the same as all pre-1966 non-Scrambler n-c.frames.

Re: Seat, Tank and Battery Mounts - 350 Sebring
Mike,
Seems to me I saw pics of your Sebring somewhere, perhaps on another site. You have a seat from a “square style” Sebring (1966) but the bike is a 1965. Your frame doesn’t have seat mounts for that type of seat. The tool box mounts appear to be intact but the lower mount for the tool box (on the battery) tray may have been compromised since there appears to have been modifications made to the battery tray. I’ll see if I can get some pics of my Sebring frame this weekend. Matt

Re: Seat, Tank and Battery Mounts - 350 Sebring
Double-diamond... you're exactly correct. The base of the seat has had pieces of tubing welded to it so that the bolt that holds the front of the tool box in place runs through the tubes. The short story is that I don't know what the original seat mount is supposed to look like.
The battery tray has been modified, but it looks like the modification is just bolted in place, not welded. So it should be a simple return-to-original. Again, just need to know what that looks like.
Thanks for your help.
Bob... thanks for the continued advice/guidance/support.

____ The front seat-securing fork-pin receptor-tubes on the 1966-type seat of-course certainly can't be fitted down-into the seat-bracket slot (between the backbone & rear-loop frame-tubing), that's only intended for the insertion of the seat-bracket of the pre-'66 type seats,, but you could possibly construct a pair of adapter-plates with prongs to substitute for the missing pair of frame-welded fork-pins.
__ I'm fairly sure that somewhere within this website, there's already existing pictures that cover the areas which you wish to see...
I recall using an app a decade ago that allowed rather automatic downloading of all pictures within any website you entered into it,, but back-then I only had dial-up, and-so I could never get the app's process to ever get completely finished on most w.sites. _ I don't recall what that particular app.name was but here's a couple links to what should be similar apps...

http://dw.cbsi.com/redir?ttag=dre-title ... whgW2AtFDk
So perhaps with one of these (installed on your PC), you could then download all pix ever posted here and-then sort through them till you find pix that cover whatever you wish to see.
Hopeful-Cheers,
-Bob

Re: Seat, Tank and Battery Mounts - 350 Sebring
Mike,
Got a few pics of Sebring/Monza Frame details.
• Sebring/Monza round style tool box (turned upside down) showing the lower front locating pin, upper front mount tab and the slot in the sheet metal where the box is bolted to the frame.
• View of a Sebring/Monza round style seat showing the front seat mount. As you can see, the seat extends well forward of the mount, so the seat fills the gap between the mount and the rear of the tank.
• View of a square style frame showing the front seat mount pins and air filter box mounts
• View of the junction where the seat loop joins the main backbone of the frame (round style).
• View of the battery tray from above showing the hole in the battery tray where the toolbox locating pin goes, also includes view of the rear toolbox mounting tab (round style).
Hope these are the pieces of the puzzle you need.
Matt

Re: Seat, Tank and Battery Mounts - 350 Sebring
Matt,
Thanks for the photos... they've answered all of my questions.
Looks like I'll have to fabricate the front seat mounts as it appears they may have been removed from the frame.
Thanks again,
Mike

Re: Seat, Tank and Battery Mounts - 350 Sebring
Mike,
The seat mounts weren’t removed from the frame. The seat you have is for a later model of the Sebring, the 1966 “square style”. Your Sebring is a 1965 “round style” and should have a seat with a mount similar that in the pic (second from top). The front seat mounting bolt runs through the upper front mounting tabs on the air cleaner and tool boxes. The front mount shown on the seat slips in between the two vertical plates that join the frame backbone to the seat loop (4th pic). Matt

Re: Seat, Tank and Battery Mounts - 350 Sebring
Matt,
Got it now! Thanks.
The original seat that came with the bike has seen better days... all of the original mounts are broken off, and have been replaced with a variety of home made brackets (hence my question about the way the seat mounts are supposed to look). These modifications including a piece of pipe welded across the front of the seat to mount between the flat frame tabs (your photo 4). In effect replacing the (seat bottom mounted) 1965 bracket with a piece of pipe.
I've acquired a NOS 1966+ seat, with the two tubes mounted on the bottom of the seat, parallel to the side of the seat. These tubes accept the "prongs" from the 1966+ square frame.
So I've got three options;
a) try to find a 1965 seat. These appear to be as rare as unicorns, sasquatch and hens' teeth.
b) remove the tubes off the bottom of the "new" seat and install a 1965 style bracket to suit the round frame.
c) install the "prongs" onto the frame, per the 1966 style square frame.
As the "new" seat is truly new looking, and the bike isn't going to be a concourse restoration, I'm inclined to go with c).
Thanks,
Mike
