____ Now THAT I had already realized,, I just didn't understand why a relay would be of any use BETWEEN the alternator & battery.
" Yea, what's missing is the voltage regulator, the relay is between the voltage regulator and the battery. "
____ Okay-then now, that's what I had thought you MIGHT've meant. _ But it seemed important enough to get cleared-up for sure.
__ However I'm still-not clear as to that extra-relay's intended-purpose...
Was I wrong that it was meant for bypassing the main-power around/outside-of the ign.switch ? - And RATHER-instead for keeping your R/R.unit from bleeding-down the battery (when the engine is not running) ?
" so lets pick up this later, when I can look at it , "
____ That would be a good-idea. _ I'm looking forward to it !
____ BTW, in-case you haven't already noticed, I've edited my ('DCT-Bob')- posts on the previous page.
Hopeful-Cheers,

The EXTRA Relay-circuit
PLEASE NOTE... If this-post is not-yet signed-off with '-Bob', then I'm still in the process of completing it,, and if not also included with 'DCT' near bottom as well, then I may edit this post's wording at a later time. - Dct.Bob

Re: Relay in a headlamp circuit
I picked up a couple of solid state relays at my local electronics salvage store, Sky craft in orlando Fl. they have a pretty good website, but it's not like being there and touching this stuf in person. Plus there's a ton of stuf in the store that doesn't make it onto the website, just because it's salvage, and they're only going to have it one time... The price is right on salvage, so I couldn't resist.
Is it correct that these SSR's are wired up just like a mechanical relay, in that one side is the trigger and one side is the load? Are they a stand alone device, or are they wired along with some other electronic devices (like resistors, capacitors, etc.)? I've never used them and this will be a new experiment for me.
Here is what I got, is anyone out there familiar with these, and does it look like something I could (should) use?
Thanks,
Bruce

Re: Relay in a headlamp circuit
Type the make and model of the device into a search engine, then download the data sheet.
