Re: Regulator/Rectifier

Can you please disconnect the wires from the bridge but keep the connection of the 2 yellow wires, then let the engine run at different revs (say idle, 3000/min, 6000/min) and measure the AC voltage between them? Hopefully, your multimeter has an AC volts position... Then please, report the values ...

Re: AAU Fixing Screw m4x10

I'm not sure that can happen - the AAU cam on mine has a lot of end float and would not be gripped by a washer. These parts are now so old that I would guess that most AAU are really worn. Yeah I agree, I just took a really close look at the old AAU and the cam lobe is recessed from the advance sha...

AAU Fixing Screw m4x10

Anyone have a pic of the auto advance screw and washer? My screw rotted out a long time ago and was replaced with a socket head allen bolt since that's all the hardware store had. I'm trying to track down the source of some random kick backs that kind of come and go as they please. I'm wondering if ...

Re: Regulator/Rectifier

You don't tell us which 2 of three wires you recommend to twist together. So, I presume you would take the two yellow ones. Imho that's not a good idea. The voltages of the two yellow wires are in 180° phase angle, referred to the red center wire/tap. This means: while one side has positive polarit...

Re: Looking for Buying Advice on a '66 250cc Scrambler

I think I have the same bike and paid slightly more for mine. Looks like my 5 speed narrow case scrambler. Id say that is a safe price but get ready for a lotta work. If you dont want it after buying it, you could part it and i'd take some donor parts. I think your in the states by the look of that ...

Re: Regulator/Rectifier

"tobydmv", how would you connect those 3 wires to a rectifier bridge, which has 2 AC input terminals and 2 DC outputs (+ and -)? Hans Well you kinda take two wires, twist them together, and crimp on a terminal, then connect the male and female bits together like its Saturday night

Re: RT 450 carb replacement

Hi Toby, I'm assuming you have a Mikuni VM carb. I'd be interested to know: a. What size b. Pilot jet c. Needle jet d. Needle e. Main jet Reason being I am trying to find jettings for VM30 Mikunis for 450, 350 and 250. I am replacing the VHB's with Mikunis. Cheers Dan Hi Dan, heres the spec list i'...

Re: Regulator/Rectifier

I connected only one of the three wires from the alternator (yellow) to the bridge rectifier and abandoned the other two. I connected the battery to the plus terminal and grounded the negative terminal and left the other AC terminal abandoned. The battery was connected to a toggle switch as was the...

Re: Regulator/Rectifier

Took the Saprisa R/R off the bike and replaced it with a bridge rectifier. As per a discussion with Dew-Ca-Ti Bob a long time ago, connected one yellow lead from the alternator to an AC terminal on the rectifier. Connected the red lead to the + terminal and ran a ground to the - terminal. I left on...
