Re: Oil Way

If only the seat is leaking, why is it burning oil? Shouldn't burn oil unless the guide is loose or the stem seal torn. As the head if off already, I would also take a close look at your compression rings.

Re: Oil Way

Following a complete rebuild, my 250 NC was a smoker. The piston's valve pockets had pooled oil when I pulled the head off. I spent a year looking at everything until I found that I had put the top piston ring in upside down. If it smokes immediately on start up and then tapers off, I would look to ...

Re: 2 ques, shifter box and modern carb

Anyway, the Duc runs great now, but definitely had to fiddle with the modern carb to get it to work, and much differently jetted than it came as supposed to work with Brit twins - see discussion above. The main problem to solve was transition from idle to part throttle. But, runs great. Tim IMG_201...

Re: Bevel tube Exploded

The upper and lower bevel circlips will be badly weakened by the incident ,anyone who could pull down the head against the obvious resistance of the bevel drive has to be a mechanical clot. This includes myself. When I bolted the head on, it didn't quiet seat the way I expected, but could not figur...

Re: Oil leak and crankcase bolt torque question...

I would never use Hylomar as it doesn't set and tends to end up in loose blue "bogies" circulating your engine. I've seen many a filter clogged in blue snot! That's actually why I prefer Hylomar - as it does not set. I've seen motors from other marques that were seriously damaged due to a...

Re: Oil leak and crankcase bolt torque question...

I have the same problem with my motor, which I assembled with NOS paper gaskets without any sealant. At first only the timing cover leaked so I got a new gasket and installed it with Hylomar - no more leaking there. Soon after my center case gasket started leaking, and now my clutch cover gasket is ...

Re: New Ducati Singles Tech Manual to be published

Excellent! I've been waiting several years for this book and just ordered mine. Is the the original one that was supposed to be published several years ago with a different cover?

Re: Bevel Gear Damage Question

The cam nut is left hand thread, but I think you're next step should be the purchase of the Ducati factory service manual. It will save you a lot of money and headaches in the long run: https://shop.bevelheaven.com/detail.aspx?ID=665 It seems you have two singles and are in this for the long haul, s...
