Re: Help Please
After thinking about this I believe that the pieces of top bearing cage made their way down the bevel tube and through the two oil drain channels at the rear of the lower bevel housing, and then from there into the timing chest and into the sump. I think that the balls stayed in place between the tw...

Re: Help Please
Thanks everyone. The pieces measure 3.3mm x 12mm and I would say that they are definitely from the upper bevel 1202 bearing, certainly the pieces are identical to a bearing that I have here for comparison, unless there is another double row bearing somewhere else. When I worked on the bike when I ac...

Re: Help Please
Thanks George,
I have fished around with my magnet wand and found no more debris, and as the bike is running well am inclined to take your advice!

Colin

Re: Help Please
Hi George, How is the 350 coming along? Searching around inside the sump from the drain hole I found half a bevel shim too. I have looked at the top self-aligning bearing and it all looks good, so the answer at the moment is that these bits have been in the sump all along, but could they find their ...

Re: Help Please
I think I've got it - it looks like the cage from the self-aligning bearing, but it can't be, because I replaced that 500 miles ago, and the bits of cage are obviously old and rusty..... Could they have been from a previous failure and been caught up in the engine somewhere? And if so, where are the...

Help Please
Anybody know what this is? Looks like a bearing cage to me, which came out when I drained my Strada's oil. Any other suggestions will be welcomed. Either way, that is the end of the Strada for a while!
Thanks,
Colin

Hi Alex,
You are very lucky to have found an engine with the lead seal in place, it is very reassuring to know that no-one has been hammering at things inside.
Good luck,
Colin

Re: The End of Classic Bikes?
No, nothing to do with Brexit, it is because the British Government has decided to ban the sale of petrol and diesel vehicles from 2030, so everyone is changing to electric cars. The problem at the moment is that there are protesters who wish to stop all sales of petrol and diesel fuel NOW, who are ...
