Jordan,
VHT High Temperature Caliper Paint, SP735 Cast Aluminum
Instructions include baking @200 degree F for one hour to cure the paint for chemical resistance. I used a toaster oven.

Dellorto SSI 29D Restoration
Just sharing my latest Carb restoration/rebuild.
I'm very pleased with the baked-on caliper paint, my testing demonstrated no softening of the paint when soaked in fuel overnight.
Some parts are zinc plated locally, some are original finish.

Ian,

Re: crankshaft press
Capton brings up a good point about pressing parts with an interference fit. The Ducati single cranks are easy to press together, since the pins are shouldered. The slide starts and stops dead on the shoulder. On straight pin cranks, I cut short lengths of feeler gauge and stack both under the pin a...

Re: 250 Crank Work
Nick, Yes, I have assembled my engine bottom end, trans, clutch complete, piston but no rings. In neutral I can push down the piston and it will have enough momentum to spin the crank and clutch to come back up on it's own. I have a .pdf of Tuning for Speed, but need to read it some more. I like you...

Re: 250 Crank Work
My crank truing method: The goal is to press with the crank webs parallel, checking on the press before applying pressure, with a straight edge. If in doubt, take out when half pressed, check and true before pressing all the way to the pin shoulders: http://i606.photobucket.com/albums/tt146/vintages...
