How do I mount the CDI unit to the bike frame ?
There is no mounting hole or bracket.

I'm thinking of velcro and double sided tape to a made up plate.
Like Sachse use.

Re: Electrex World cdi box mounting
Hi Graeme,
Can you not use the original coil mounting bracket under the tank? If there are no brackets, what about using cable ties with some sort of rubber buffer between the unit and the frame?
Cheers,
Colin

Yes, but it is just a square box with wires coming out one end.
I can make a hat section bracket to mount it but was concerned that could damage it ???
The Electrex instructions shows a CDI with a lug and a hole in the lug.
Ask first what others do ?

Re: Electrex World cdi box mounting
Hi Graeme,
Yes, both of my Electric World CDI boxes have holes for mounting! I wonder if you have got a dud? If that is the case then it is a real bummer, when you are on the other side of the world!
Could you post a picture so I can compare it to mine? It may be possible to drill a hole in the correct place........But risky if it goes wrong. Have you emailed Lacey and asked them? They may give you the go-ahead with the proviso that if it does not work, they will replace it.
Cheers,
Colin

Hi Graeme,
That box is different to mine...... Maybe a new design. I think that an enquiry to Lacey must be your next step. You would think that Electrex would supply some sort of mounting harness for it wouldn't you? They surely can't expect you to make your own.
Cheers,
Colin

G'day Graeme,
Different box from mine too, have a word with Nigel. However, be aware Covid struck and both he and Edina were flattened for at least two weeks, so a reply to your email may take a couple of days.
I attach images of my box fitted to the '74 450 MKIII, if that is of use?
Good health, Bill

Aye Bill,
Yours is the same as mine. I wonder if Electrex World have come out with a new design but have ommitted the mounting apparatus? It may be that there should be a rubber harness like that used for mounting flasher units. Graeme just happens to be about as far away from Electrex World as is possible.

Bill, your CDI and coil are one piece ?
Looks like it ?
The set I was sent is seperate CDI and coil.
I ordered the alternator kit without the seperate ignition coil so it needs a battery. Wonder if that is why mine is different ?
