New member - barnfind 250 OHC

Hi everyone - just want to say hello and ask a couple questions. I just recently came into what i beleive is a 1962 or 63 250 OHC Scrambler. Its in rough shape but is fixable. Im curious on what it is worth as is and what it would be worth restored/rebuilt. To my unitiated eye it appears all original, except the seat. I'll post some photos later.

Thanks!

Aye Nick,

Welcome! :D

Just getting the engine sorted will cost between £1,000 to £2,000 to get running and it will need stripping after lying about for an unknown time. The crank sludge trap will require cleaning, bearings replacing and new seals as a minimum. Finally, keep all the shims in situ as you dismantle the motor, take lots of photographs/drawings and put each assembly into labelled containers.

Up to you whether you go for a spit and polish job or ensure that the mechanicals are all 100%.

All the best with whatever you choose to do and use the 'Search' facility in the top right of the forum to reveal all the hints and tips that have gone afore. ;)

As for value; it's worth what someone will give you for it and there are only 10 years afore 2030 arrives, so in my opinion the 'investment' mentality maybe :?: Get it running and give it a hurl whilst you can! :D  :D

Good health, Bill
