250 coil

1967 250 Scrambler. The electrical schematics mention that the coil is an alternating current 6V coil. Is there a difference between an alternating current coil and a direct current coil?

Indeed, they differ, visually and electrically: the DC coil has a red label, while the AC type has green one. The AC coil has a higher turns ratio, resulting in a higher secondary resistance (~9 kOhms); the DC coil has ~6 kOhms. They are both available, i. e.
