So, at least the fork was manufactured in 1972.

Yes the forks are 72 but clearly I still have a rather lively basketcase mystery on my hands lol

You and many, many others who have bought Ducati singles that have been hacked up and changed over the past years.
You have a good base to build it the way you want and enjoy it.
