"I've never seen a SSI with a fiber sleeve, only on VHB carbs, people might use the sleeve to fit a larger carb to a smaller intake..."
The majority of SS 27 A and SS1 27 D carbs (if not all) had adapter sleeves, at least the ones used on ducati singles did... If you have a SS 27, and a SS1 27 then the I.D. of the outlet side of both carbs should be the same... 35mm, without the sleeve, and if it has a sleeve it will most likely adapt in down to 32mm ID ( as in the adapter sleeve will be 35mm od, and 32mm ID)
Look at both of them if it has a plastic sleeve it will be obvious.
The VHB carbs that where used on the duke singles where much larger at the outlet side... The VHB 27-30's that i have measure 40mm w/o the sleeve, and 35mm with the sleeve. So its possible your intake and or the second carb you just got came off of a later engine...
The bottom line is, use whichever carb is in better condition, make sure it is jetted correctly and has the correct float/needle/slide/etc... Then if you have to use an adapter sleeve use one, if not then dont... I would not go searching for another intake though just to fix the size difference problem.

Re: Random questions
So I'm getting a 350 scrambler here soon!! It's on a truck and on it's way. I am still going to build the 250 as well
I was curious, where is the best place for finding a cafe style tail and front fairing (full or half)??
Also has anyone heard of a scrambler coming factory with a dual spark head?

Re: Random questions
I've never heard of a factor dual-plugged head.
Fairings?
Maybe look here:
http://caferacingparts.com/
http://www.airtech-streamlining.com/
I think that maybe these two are in the US which may facilitate shipping.
If you don't mind the bill or risk associated with overseas shipping you could look here:

The glass from the past is kind of conjoined with a local company here called Union Motorcycles.

Wow! I like it! Have you ridden it?
The tank for some reason makes me think "mojave" which was a Wards/Benelli offering of the same era.
I love the 'sandcast' look of the engine cases...

Re: Random questions
Is that supposed to be the 350 Scrambler you just bought?
looks great aside frome the terrible tank and seat, i can't stand the look of those Mojave tanks, especially on a Duc!
for some reason people will pay $300 for those things on Ebay. if I were you I'd throw that thing on Ebay and sell it.
So, thats not a Scrambler buy the way and definately not a 350 Scrambler, since they never made a Narrow Case 350 Scrambler.
it doesnt look like a scrambler motor or frame to me. if it is a 350 I suppose it's a Sebring.
Looks like a great start for a project either way, you have lots of good bits to start with,
have fun
