Four questions pertaining to discussion above:
#1) when tapping oil pump for external line to cylinder head at end of camshaft -- do you block off the original oil line that runs across the engine case and up the cylinder into the head?
#2) any pictures of the holes drilled in the fins as discussed?
#3) any pros/cons to running synthetic oil in a Ducati single? I know in the vintage Ferrari's and Alfa's, we have numerous problems with the synthetics seeping through the crankcases due to porosity issues.
#4) I have no problems modifying the engine case for return oil lines. Is there a preferred location of the above discussed?

Re: Race breed single
I'd be wary of putting a filter in the top end feed line. It'd restrict the amount of oil, as the path of least resistance to the bigend would take it instead I think.
A possible reason for having an external oil line (without a filter!) is for confidence that oil gets where it's wanted. The circuitous internal route, negotiating a gasket which may be badly made and impede the oil flow, is avoided that way.
Of course, lots of racy details have become fashion. Don't overdo it boys and girls!
