I had a Mk3 250 with an Amal Concentric 930 carburettor, that was particularly nice and smooth running.
Good thing about it was it bolted straight onto the head (with a fibre spacer for heat insulation).

Could be something as simple as a HT lead that is not fully into the coil,or the resistance of the plug cap gone high. They can be exasperating things to solve. Don't get cross , it want's to go and needs your help!.

Thanks to Jordan for that bit of factual info, and to Bevel Bob for the soothing advice. (I too find anthropomorphism a comfort. :) )
