2 piece 4 bolt discbrake

Hi Guys

the Ducati 450 Tom Snow was riding in the Isle of Man had a 2 piece disc brake on the spoked wheel

anyone knows where a disc like that could be bought ?

That disk and carrier look like Spondon parts seen commonly in the 80s and 90s, on many Yamaha race bikes but with a different bolt pattern.

Some information from Tom Snow, "Don't do it! It's going to be changed this winter. The brake isn't very good, because the hub is an OME Ducati 450 disc brake one and that is of quite a large diameter, which restricts the options and size of disc and caliper that can be used, at present it is using an AP caliper that is relatively small in pad area. The carrier is a one off, as is the disc".

The 350 Ducati that Tom's brother Doug rode to such good effect in the Manx and completed a ~99.995mph average speed at his final attempt, used a Honda 400/4 disc front hub. The hub is correct for the period and being smaller in diameter than the Ducati OME disc hub, allows for a larger caliper, with a larger pad area and brake disc to be fitted, hence the improved braking. I have not been told what the actual components used were. According to Tom that 350's brake was much better than the one you were looking for information on.

ISR brakes in Sweden makes custom discs and discs like that are often used in classic racing here.
The company was recently sold and they wre not making discs for a while, but I think they aimed to start up again this autumn

yes i have been looking at the ISR discs to . Kent Jörvevall is using them on his beveltwin racers .

Hi Bill

thank you for the info . i was gonne use a BremboF 08 caliper ( 38 mm pistons) . if you use the correct diameter master cylinder for this caliper
it should brake OK . if not you could use a BremboF 09 caliper . same mounting but bigger pistons ( 48 mm )

the F 09 is used on Moto Guzzi as rear brake and on some BMW's
