I have in my possession finally an original Mototrans Ducati 250 Road manual. I have seen websites that are Road parts catalogs, but they are not the 72/73 specific road models, they seem to be the older Road sold in Europe. Glad to have my hands on this as I have found nothing online that comes close to denote differences.
Let me know if you need a page, I will eventually scan.

Re: Original 250 Road Parts Manual
The engine number does not help much to identify a widecase 250 Road.
All the 250 widecase engine numbers starting 114..., 115..., and 116... are Mototrans engines.
Road 250 frame numbers should start MD 40... or MD 41...
Spanish Scrambler models are slightly confusing regarding frame numbers as they used a different numbering system for the home (Spanish) market and the export models.
Export models used the same format as the Italian Scramblers, starting DM250S ......
The fuel tank without the front ears but having a mounting with two prongs under the tank would indicate a Road model.

Re: Original 250 Road Parts Manual
My engine case is stamped DM250, 114429 - it is a 73 Road. Italian cylinder barrel and mototrans head. My bike is Frame 1110507.
I have learded Roads can be rather confusing, as most Roads were smaller 70mm bore narrowcases and mostly European sold. Someone like me thinks Road, its a 72/73 Mototrans Road widecase with normal 74mm bore. Parts manuals are different. I finally found the correct manual for my "Road" vs the narrowcase European Roads. From what I have learned it sounds like the 72/72 Roads were for Berliner when they were having a hard time with Ducati direct and went to Motortrans direct.

Re: Original 250 Road Parts Manual
Here is the parts manual cover to cover for the whole bike - 73 250 Road. Just got done scanning finally. Should be great news for anyone with a widecase Road.
