Color code?

Postby Rob52 » Mon Feb 22, 2021 9:27 am

Hello everyone.
My friend is going to paint his 1971 450 Desmo Mk 3 and wants to know if there is a similar car color, or generic color to his original burgundy/dark red?? Any and all tips greatly appreciated.

If there is an area of original colour it can be copied by auto paint retailers and put into aerosol can by them. They use a portable device placed directly against the paint sample. The person using the device needs experience though.

Ducati used italian "Lechler" paints for their single and twins of that period. According to a list I have, your bike was painted with

Rosso corsa, no. DUC A13 and Grigio perla met., no. DUC A18. In Europe a good supplier can mix the paint according to these codes, maybe also in the US.

cheers Hans
