Hello all, I have a few questions.... I was tearing down my frame to take to get powder coated. I removed everything although the swingarm bushings were a little tough but they are out. I have no idea how I'm going the get new ones in...
The rear brake foot pedal was also no walk in the park but that is dismantled. Again reassembly seems difficult if its anything like the teardown...
But my most pressing question is does the steering column and lower yoke come apart????? if so is there a trick? I did not want to much about with it too much, heat did nothing. The manuals say nothing as far as i can read....
also how is the steering cone attached.
Thx I really enjoy this forum. I hope i didn't bore or repost but i really did search! Robert

The steerng stem is pressed into the lower clamp but you run the risk of damaging the stem if you try to remove it. Best to just leave it in place and mask it for painting. The bearing race is pressed on to the stem. Use either a bearing puller or brass drift although I've seen them crack when using a drift to remove. Matt

The race is an interference fot on the stem. With an appropriately sized pipe (ID slightly larger than the OD of the stem) you can just tap the race in place until it bottoms on the lower clamp. Matt
