Hi
Does anyone have a pair of seviceable lower bevel gears for a widecase motor (450) that they would be willing to sell?
Mine has some damage to the drive end of the larger gear. It engages ok with the drive shaft to the upper bevel gear, but I'm not comforable with it.

Re: Lower bevel gears
Hello Max,
The 450 cases, first series had the small right side main bearing and the lower bevel gear (with the shaft for the Oldham coupling) is wider than the same gear for the two later cases with the larger right side bearing.
The later case lower bevel had the edges ground down to clear the main bearing.
If your cases are the earliest I have lower bevels spare.
This will not fit the later cases without the gear being ground down.
The ground down later lower bevel will fit all cases.
I believe ducati vintage store has new bevels.
Graeme

Re: Lower bevel gears
Thanks for that info, the plot thickens.
I need to measure the bevel and get back here. It didn't look machined to me, though.
The engine number is DM450 455285, and I have fitted the larger main bearing.
With the crankcases together (yes, I will have to pull them apart again...) and the bevels installed, the whole crank assembly turns oer quite smoothly.
More investigation required.

This should link to what you need.
From your engine number these early lower bevels need grinding to fit your larger right bearing

Re: Lower bevel gears
Brilliant, Graeme!
This is an engine made up of chunks of different engines.
So much to learn on these bikes - thanks for the information.
