I'd like to replace my coffin style tank with the "rare" one pictured below. Please let me know if you can help.

in my opinion the coffin tank is nicer and more rare but if that's what you like...
check this out http://www.classicducati.com/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=749
you could sell your tank for more than one of those cost.

I have a feeling I incorrectly referred to my tank as a "coffin" tank... below is a picture of my model of tank.... although mine is all primer, at the moment.

No that's correct and is what I thought you were referring to. The same tank that is on my mk3d. Probably my favorite Ducati tank ever. But if you like the other one better that's fine. They did make a bunch of those tanks but they mostly went to Europe and Canada. If you really want one I'd talke to Barry at classic Ducati and see if he still has a NOS one for sale. That's not a bad price and you could sell your coffin tank for a good amount.

Aaron,

Thanks for your help. Classic Ducati has 2 or 3 of that particular tank, but your praise of my existing one has given me pause. I think I'll paint it and see how it looks on the bike before I do anything (rash).

Warm regards,

derek

Just my personal preference and I have one for my bike I spent a bunch of money on to get fixed and re-chromed so I'm kinda in love with it I guess.

derek,
Don't know if you are still looking for a fuel tank but I have the following available:
1966 250 narrowcase Mk3 - Good condition
early 60s "jellymold" tank - Fair condition
Both are rust free and have working caps.

John,

Thanks for the post, but I think I'm going to hold off changing out my tank until I paint the one I've got (and see how it looks).

Hi,

Are either of these tanks still available? I'm looking for a decent useable tank.

Thanks,
