Sorry if this is posted twice - but I think it had timed out before I sent it the first time .
My FIRST reason to join this forum is to find info on the oil plug that fits in the left end of the crankshaft on some ? models .
At least I THINK it is just SOME models . Ducati refers to it as a DOWEL .
I have a 1962 - I THINK a narrow case scrambler , and my crank does not have the dowel as I purchased the bike , but no use messing up at this point , sooo - if the narrow case scrambler does need the oil plug (dowel) on the left end of the crank -- I would like to buy one !
I also need a good seat pan OR one that i can copy .
I'm new to this forum - but very hopefull !
Thanks folks
Mac

Re: oil plug ( dowel )
Hi Mac and welcome to the Forum.
Someone will correct me if I'm wrong, but I've never heard of a Type B engine without the crankshaft oil plug ('cos that's what I believe it is). (And I guess you've checked to see if your crankshaft is threaded to take one - ?).
This is a scan from an early, but unfortunately undated, parts book for the 250 Diana and Monza. Both these models were first released the year before the Scrambler. The part # is 0400.47.160.

Anyways, they're On Sale on eBay right now!

Can't help with the seat pan, I'm afraid!
Ciao

Re: oil plug ( dowel )
I suppose I should change my name to "Old Dummy" -- I had already tried 8mm 1.0 threads and 8mm 1.25 threads and could not percieve any damage to the threads in the crank - so I figgured it was some "odd" metric thread . Well I finaly devised a way to measure the inside threads .
Screwed in a tappered wooden dowel and backed it out -was able to determine that the proper thread is in fact a 1.25 thread -- soo I ran a tap GENTLY into the threads and cleaned up the starting thread - now I have made a dowel that will work like a factory part .
PLEASE if you need to call me names for this screw up - Please do not include any comments about my lady as she had nothing to do with my condition . Just FYI -- she said this Tuesday that I was her TROPHY husband -- I naturaly got all excited about that for a second -- THEN she said "YEP Ya got 4th place - to make matters worse -- I found out later that there were only 3 guys in the competition !! Sooo - It's been a bad week all all togather .
Hope all the rest of you guys are doing better .
