Selling my project. Being broke and in college doesn't bode well for owning a classic bike.
The bike is in great shape and it runs great but it is not complete. I purchased it from a guy in Maine who raced hondas and had this as a bop-around cafe racer. He had a benelli tank on it and a poor fitting fiberglass seat. Both of which i took off upon purchasing the bike. I did ride it for a couple months but never registered it. The title was lost long ago but in maine, nh, ct it's never a problem to register a bike this old without a title, may be true in other states.
I put on a very nice set of older tomaselli clip ons with a magura super d throttle, the clip ons the bike came with were some ebay garbage. It has a factory megaphone muffler. Velocity stack on the carb. The guy said that it had been raced previously, I have no data to support this BUT the marzocchi rear shocks, megaphone muffler, Dellorto UBF 24 with thread on velocity stack and there is a special V-cut cast into the side cover for easy clutch adjustment. I tried to see if it was homemade but the way it's beveled makes it seem like it was part of the original casting. The back of the shift lever has also been cut making me think that it was used for racing. It has an early round headlight with Veglia speedometer, fiberglass front fender. No side panels, no chain guard.
When I ditched the benelli tank I found a 68 Monza "breadbox" tank in VGC. Has original cap, and the paint is patina'd, but no dents, no holes, could be used with a thorough cleaning. I also have an airtech fiberglass seat pan and foam seat that'll go with it. I went through the bike before taking the tank off. Cleaned, lubed, oil changed, new o-rings in the forks, new grease in the head set. all cables adjusted, brakes, clutch etc. Kickstart is still in great shape, I usually pop-start it. This bike ran awesome and it's so close to being a runner again that it pains me I won't be able to ride it.
