I did not watch the new Pan Am show but I am told that some part of the premier episode took place in Italy and one of the lead characters rides a Ducati single that closely resembles a Kingfisher blue Diana.

I saw it. and I can tell you it is the most silent Duc single I have ever seen. I was excited to see it, said to my wife, hey, that's a Ducati. She just said "so" and went back to watching the show. He is sitting astride the little Duc when a girl comes up to him and they have a minute or so conversation and then he leaves. I thought this will be good as he kicks it over, but no, he just puts it in gear and drives off with a barely audible exhaust note. I was pleased to see that he did shift it on the right side. If I didn't know better I would think there was a rope tied to the front and he got pulled off and they later removed it with CG tricks.

I saw it too... I swear it wasnt even running... but then again it is "hollywood" The funny part is, I know nothing about the show. But my g/f of all people dvr recorded it, and played it back for me, like "isnt that a ducati single" I was kinda proud that she has picked up that much ( she works at a spa/salon lol...) I.e. she knows nothing about cars/bikes/etc...

Duke-single on TV

" Looks to be the 250cc model, sold in UK as a Monza, "
____ I'm sure this Duke-model was never called a "Monza"...
It appears to me to be a 1961/62 Diana-250, (which is a 4-speed model that's not greatly different than the Monza-model of the same year, and also should not be confused with the 'Diana Mark III' -[which indeed IS a much different Duke-model than this 'Diana 250' !] ) !
What can be seen of it looks all stock (for this particular model), except for it's muffler which looks to be that of a wide-case Mark-3 model, (which weren't any quieter [when fitted with the made for USA-type baffle] ).
__ As for the exhaust-sound supposedly of it on TV, it's been fairly well known that the supposed sounds of many various noise making items, especially motorcycles, are rarely ever at all 'actual' , but rather 'dubbed-in' instead ! _ (Certainly most 'bikers' who've seen motorcycles on TV have noted such as 4-s Honda singles seemingly instead sounding like some ring-ding 2-s dirt-bike, or some multi.cylinder Jap.bike seemingly instead sounding like a V-twin Harley, etc., etc. !)
DUKE-Cheers,
