Just curious if this works - Scrambler swingarm on Monza

Postby SubaruPaul » Tue Sep 13, 2011 6:26 pm

Had this nutty idea that when I finally go at the 250 fun project Monza that I'd like the wider rear wheel the scramblers have. So for kicks I went and got a scrambler swingarm. My bike is too buried in storage to find out if I need to pass this one or not. So please let me know if this is a waste of time. Not based on your preference but if it physically does not work.

Any other items of interest should this fit up? Upper shock mounts? Brake cable? etc.???

Thanks!

Forgot to add that the scrambler swingarm should be from a narrowcase as well. The seller said it was also a '66

____ There's no width difference between the 250 Monza & Scr n-c swing-arm versions anyhow.

____ BTW, you could've just edited your first-post, instead of starting another post.

Thanks. For some reason when I went to edit I didn't see an edit button. So only the wheel is wider and not the swingarm?

Hi Paul

i think the swingarms are the same . the limiting factor on tire size is the skinny rear fender ( and top fender mounting )
with a scrambler the rear frame loop is bend upwards so the fender is mounted higher ( and the fender could be wider ,dont know about that )

____ Oh, well those buttons do disappear if you're not logged-in.

" So only the wheel is wider and not the swingarm? "

____ Only the rim & tire are wider.
__ I've put a complete SCR-wheel in a Monza but if all the spokes aren't perfectly trued-up, the larger tire then rubs on the Monza's seat/upper-fender bolts.
I've also installed a 4.25x18 on my Monza/chopper-Duke... but don't recommend it !

Thanks guys! Hate seeming so green on this stuff. I plan on eliminating old fenders and making my own.

Bob , what I think happened with the edit issue was that I didn't let the page load entirely. Strange because I have a very fast (enough) cable connection. Maybe we need some wrenching on our server. Anyway , we've wasted more space talking about it .... I sure was logged in. And its not exactly my first time here or on a messageboard. Onward !!!!
