I need to buy a new clutch pack for the 350, so has anyone here got any preferences for either the standard clutch plates, or for the thicker plain plate conversion? I don't ride hard and am leaning towards the standard plates, so can anyone convince me otherwise?

I have used the std. Ducati plate set for 51 years now and really no problem until about 10 years ago when the clutch started to slightly slip when heavy loaded, I striped it down (for the first time) and found the steel plates were as thin as razors and dished. I had a spare widecase 250 bottom end with very low miles so I 'robbed' the plates from that and they have been in there ever since and working perfectly again.
So For road use I don't see any issue with the std. plates.

Thanks. I am still undecided, but the only way to tell is to try the thick plates out! I was hoping that someone who is using the thick plate kit might give an opinion.

I’m using the thick plates in my 450. All I can really say is that they work fine (but I’m not sure that’s helpful).

Had a set of the thick plates in my 250 for many years .

Afternoon gentlemen, been out battening down the hatches in readiness for Amey!

Used to use 1mm plates in the 450, then at the last rebuild went over to using all 2mm thick plates. I had a problem, with my thumb joints, due to the strength of the springs and also the 2mm plates not freeing off sufficiently and warping. This has been resolved by re-routing the clutch cable, replacing the warped 2mm plates, with new ones and removing one side of the friction material on the rear friction plate face against the clutch basket face. This reduces the clutch plate stack height by approximately 1mm, to an overall height of 27.50mm and has given me a drag free clutch and an easier pull at the lever since. So far, after 7,000 miles, no more warped plates.

So far, after 7,000 miles no apparent problems. Still using Smith and Allan 15W/50 synthetic, changed between 1,200 and 1,500 miles. Give the sump a flush, with brake cleaner, after draining and give the drained oil/brake cleaner a sweep with a magnet. Nothing been caught, so far!
