Hi,
Has anyone here managed to graft a side stand onto a Ducati Single? There are various aftermarket side stands available for the bevel twins that use the rear, lower engine bolt as the fixing point, so I wonder if the same could be done for a Single?
Cheers,
Colin

Re: Side Stand
Hi Colin, side stand pictures from a Ducati Singles forum. I have thought about making one, as it's handy when parking on grass, but I tend to think they look a bit clumsy .

Re: Side Stand
I bought a proper one from Richard Bool at Stafford Show. Fixed to front engine plate. I’ll try and remember to take a picture tomorrow.

Thanks everyone.
Eldert, how does the RT stand fit to the bike? Is it bolted to the footrest plate?
Cheers,
Colin

Re: Side Stand
Here’s my side stand, in both positions.
I think it’s normally fixed to the left hand plate but this one had been chopped so I just fitted it in addition to the engine plate. Tucks up neatly under the motor although I added the little spur so I could deploy it from the seat.

Re: Side Stand
Thanks for the pics. The problem with the original side stand is that they cost a fortune, which I don't mind, except my bike has the parallel twin frame and so I am not sure that I could get the mounting plate to fit. It may be possible, but it is an expensive exercise if it is not.

Re: Side Stand
Colin, is it for a widecase or narrow? the widecase is pretty easy using the footrest fixing 'plate' as in Elderts photo.....you can use quite a few Jap bike side stands that bolt onto their frames with a bit of mounting bracket 'modding' the last one I made was from a Honda nsr 250. Cheers, George

Re: Side Stand
Hi George,
It is a wide-case. Thanks for the info, I may get a used side-stand and try to make up a bracket to fit. I cannot see how the 450RT stand is fixed, the parts book does not show it.
Cheers,
Colin

Re: Side Stand
The pic Eldert provided shows the stand attached to the bracket that fixes to the rear lower engine bolt and the unused lug ( Desmo) with an 8mm through bolt just forward if the lower rear engine bolt.
Scrambler uses the 2 bolts to attach the foot peg brackets.
