1960 NC 175 Silverstone with NO additional performance mods
Putting in Electrex World EI.
Going to set with the pulse rotor at Full advance.
What's full advance? The guide says Static 18-21, extent of system advance 28 giving a total advance at 3000rpm ( I presume that's when maximum advance is reached) of 46-49. Setting full advance at 46-49 seems absurdly high?

I would go for around 36 degrees with modern fuel that burns faster , and road test ,then add a couple more degrees , if no improvement go back to 36. Easy starting and reduced load on the big end more important than a few mph, Keep revs up to aid oil delivery and no plonking around at low revs.

It does seem absurdly high but my early 200GT is timed at 46 degrees BTDC (static 18 degrees). It'd retarded as much as I can using the point plate I have. I have driven hundreds of miles with that timing and plan on using that bike in a Motogiro.

Thanks everyone. I am going to set at 40. Less than recommended to account for the modern fuel as someone has commented.

You can also use premium gas which should burn less quickly.
