Internal taper spring for front fork

Postby Flyboy767 » Wed May 01, 2024 10:46 pm

I’m missing the internal taper spring for my front fork. 1965 Diana MK3 with 31.5 mm fork. Any idea where I can buy one? Or the whole internal hydraulic assembly if need be?
It’s item# 515 in the enclosed pic:

They were missing from my forks too. Bought some from Classic Ducati , but they are not on the web site now, be very carefull with the damper valve at the base of the forks ,expensive and hard to replace.

Thank you for your reply. How do I remove those damper valves? I have a new set of fork legs but I need to move the damper valves over to it. Doesn’t look like there is a lock ring or any mechanical device holding them in place. Is it just a press fit?

Thank you!!

From memory (not good!) there is an internal circlip thats very difficult to remove, I hacksawed a small cut in the staunchion just enough to get the tip of a scapel blade under the end of the clip. The valve is soft alloy with steel balls that are retained by staking and can fall out. The washer is important and the valve had been replaced upside down in my forks. Parts not availiable .Search the forum for a previous thread.

Look at fork strip post Jan 8th 2018 . Use Junior hacksaw to cut slot but be carefull to cut only into circlip gap otherwise you will destroy clip ,which will be unobtainable . Balls are 5/32 from cycle shop I think.

I got my clips out with the point of a sharp knife.

I got my clips out with the point of a sharp knife. I didn’t cut a notch, just pried the clip out.
