How can the seat be the hardest part to find?

Postby Rbranst » Fri Feb 02, 2024 9:39 pm

My 72 Mototrans is coming along nicely however i cannot locate an original or replacement seat.
The 250 Road Frames have the seat bolts facing outward on the top of the rear frame. Most seats I see with what I call "ears" or bracket straps are narrow and seem to mount inside. The road seets these brackets in the rear are wide, and go over the frame on the outside and bolt down over the bolts. I cannot for the life of me seem to find this seat. Any help would be appreciated.

If a seat is unobtainable then there's nothing else for it - you'll have to make one fit.
Best done with no upholstery attached, a base that approximates the required shape can have required brackets welded or otherwise fastened to it.
All part of the fun.

If you are in the US there will probably be only one seat available for the widecase Road model as the narrowcase Road was not sold in the US..
Just be aware that there are three different seats available for wide and narrowcase Roads with slightly different bracket positions.
Don't you just love Mototrans?
