Re: 1973 Mototrans 250
That's a very nice find.
If the mileage on the odometer is genuine then it has just been run-in! Your engine number is about 2000 before my 1974 scrambler. The frame & tank do look to me like a road model, but the handlebars look odd, and the seat doesn't seem to be quite right.
Cheers,
Al

The seat is an Italian widecase seat. That doesn't fit properly.
The forks look to be post-1975 Telescos.
Not quite sure what's going on with the tank
I can't make out the engine number. What is it?

Let me say I am guessing 72/73 based on my limited knowledge.

The parts of this that haven't peen spray painted are Black with hand painted white pinstripes.
What years was Black available? Someone mentioned the forks werent exactly right for a 73 but I am not 100% on the year.

Re: 1973 Mototrans 250
I think you are correct in suggesting your machine is a Road model from 1972/3, possibly early 1973 with an engine number 114429.
The only real difference with the early Telesco forks and the later, post-1975 forks is the oil seal holder.
As the later oil seal arrangement is much better than the early one, I wouldn't be too concerned about it.
It would be worth trying to find the correct seat as the widecase Italian Scrambler seat doesn't fit the Mototrans frame well.

Re: 1973 Mototrans 250
Thanks for the info. That seat is a perfect match for my 68 250 Scrambler. It has already found a new home.
The bike is very complete and I plan on doing a nut and bolt restoration on it.
Back Fender- Nice - will just need stripped and painted.
Rear Telesco shocks - Rusted and covered in blue paint.
Tank - Rusty - pinholes at the bottom rear corner that were covered with aluminum tape. I wonder if I can save or if it is worth saving.
Front Fender - Pretty crusty and bent up but I think I can reshape and cleanup and salvage.
Front Telesco Forks - Very rusty under the blue paint. I am assuming these were a poorly chromed metal lower. Not sure if I should try on these or look for another pair.
Bars - Completely wrong.
Instrument Pod - split, but the instruments are nice. Bike is LOW miles and the instruments themselves are in nice shape.
Akront Rims - will clean up nice on the buffer - plan on respoking and polishing the hubs.
Exhaust - Rusty but usable
